How people join Mazie
Mazie is a private, invitation-only text assistant for families. Nobody is added to a family's Mazie thread
without agreeing first. This page explains exactly how that works.
1. A family member sets up Mazie and adds people, with their consent
The person setting up Mazie for their family (the account holder) signs up at
textmazie.com/setup.html and lists the people who'll be in the family's thread. Before
adding anyone's mobile number, the account holder asks that person, using this script:
"I'd like to add you to our family's private Mazie text thread. You'll get check-ins, reminders, and family
updates by text — a few messages a day at most. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP any time to
leave, or HELP for help. Is it okay to add your number?"
The sign-up form will not accept a mobile number unless the account holder confirms that person has agreed:
They've agreed to be added
Required before a number is added.
2. Each person gets a confirmation text first
Before Mazie sends a person anything else (whether they text Mazie first or a family member's message reaches
them first), they receive this confirmation from their family's Mazie number:
Mazie: Dana added you to your family's private Mazie text thread, with your consent. Recurring msgs:
reminders, check-ins & family updates. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help,
STOP to opt out. Privacy: https://textmazie.com/privacy
"Dana" is replaced with the name of the family member who added them.
3. What people receive
- Messages: messages from their own family members, passed along by Mazie; replies from Mazie;
and the reminders and check-ins their family asked for.
- Frequency: varies with the family's activity, typically a few messages a day. Families choose
texting hours, and messages outside those hours wait until morning unless they're urgent.
- Cost: message and data rates may apply. The subscription is paid by the account holder, not by
the other people in the thread.
- No marketing: Mazie never sends promotional or marketing messages, and we never share mobile
numbers or consent with third parties for marketing.
4. Help and opting out
- Reply STOP at any time to stop all messages from Mazie. You'll get one final message
confirming it. To rejoin, reply START.
- Reply HELP for help, or email hello@textmazie.com.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
